Dutch company Wilnest is building birdhouses from Luran S
The construction kit for the bird nesting boxes supplied by the
Dutch company Wilnest is a clever application of the BASF plastic
Luran® S (ASA), a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer impact modified
with acrylic rubber. The double-walled and hence well insulated
plastic structure consists almost completely of the lightweight and
weather-resistant material. This BASF plastic from the
PlasticsPlusTM family is especially suitable for outdoor
applications. Luc Gysels, Market Developer Styrenic Specialty
Polymers at BASF, stresses the high chemical resistance, impact
strength and UV resistance of the material. No woodpecker or
squirrel can harm this robust material. The smooth surface of Luran
S also prevents the chicks from leaving the nest too soon and
increases their survival prospects. If required the nesting box can
be converted to a feeding place.
