History
The history of Wilnest actually begins in the
mid-sixties. In Ommen, a certain Jan de Wilde thought of the idea of making a
nesting box from a plastic tube, a flat piece of plastic for the floor and a
plastic profile for the roof. An invention that was just as simple as it was
clever, it became popular and was quickly a major success; even with bird
watchers, who were initially rather sceptical. The final product went on sale
around 1970. Wilnest can be considered to be a contemporary successor to that
original plastic nesting box.
